Critical Infrastructure Needs

From bridges to wastewater treatment to broadband and power generation, Alabama is falling behind. Here in North Alabama our explosive growth demands planned infrastructure!

What Linderholm will do

  1. Spend our tax money on North Alabama's real needs, including congested roads, bridges, broadband, and sewer upgrades, not a speculative "road to nowhere."
  2. Keep utility rates in the hands of elected officials who answer to voters, not an appointed board.
  3. Bring simple "plug-and-play" home solar to Alabama, like Utah allows.

In his own words

Alabama has immense infrastructure needs, from roads and bridges to broadband access, to water treatment and sewer upgrades.

These issues are largely mirrored in North Alabama. We have areas of severe road congestion, poor rollout of broadband in some areas, and a water treatment problem with unregulated private sewer systems. These matters need action. Other parts of the state fixed this same sewer issue in 2022, but it has taken until this year for our representatives to finally propose legislation needed to fix this. We can do better.

Utility costs

Utility costs are exploding. Electric power went up 5.1% in 2025, with the availability charge up 34%. We are fortunate that we are not under Alabama Power, but there are issues on the horizon with TVA, and residential and business growth will place a strain on the system. Our rates must be controlled by elected officials, who are accountable to the voters, not by some appointed board.

Roads

While we wait in traffic on roads that desperately need upgrading, your representatives in Montgomery have tied up almost a billion dollars in the West Alabama Corridor, with massive cost overruns and delays. We need our tax money to go towards OUR infrastructure needs, not some speculative road-to-nowhere.

Solar power

Finally, so much more can be done with solar power in the state, especially at the household level, if the proper incentives and planning are provided at the state level. Let’s get Plug-And-Play solar, like Utah allows, so you can generate your own energy simply and cheaply. We should be taking the lead on these issues, not always a decade behind!
